Annual Banner Auction
Each year on the second Saturday in December the Arts In Easton banners are sold at an exhilarating, entertaining auction, held at the Waterfowl Festival Building, located at 40 South Harrison Street in Easton, from 7pm-9:30pm.
88 pieces are displayed to create a brilliant exhibit of unique paintings, photography art and three dimensional art created by local artists. This free event includes a complementary bar, hors d’oeuvres, music and the opportunity to purchase your favorite pieces of original artwork.
On Saturday evening a silent auction is held from 7pm – 8pm. Each banner is accompanied by a bid sheet. The starting bid is the top bid for each banner from the online bidding, or $100.00 if no online bid was made for a banner. Bids must increase in price by at least $25.00.
When a banner has 10 silent auction bids, the bid sheet is pulled for that banner and it goes to the live auction. Starting at 8pm, a professional auctioneer will auction the banners that have qualified.
Most of the artists attend the auction, offering a great opportunity to talk shop with the creators of your favorite works of art.
Banner Auction Preview
The banners are displayed in advance of the auction in the Waterfowl Festival Building to allow the public a chance to preview these fine original works of art. Banners may be previewed on Friday (the day before the auction) from 5pm – 8pm and Saturday (the day of the auction) from noon – 4pm. Previewing is a great chance to plan your bidding strategy. Silent auction bids may be made during the preview hours.
Response to the Arts In Easton Banner Program has been outstanding. Downtown merchants, restaurants and other businesses have expressed great pride in the artwork, while local residents and visitors alike love the splendor the banners add to the hometown charm of the community.
Many return annually, and each year new patrons of the event emerge as well. Consumers purchase banners for varied reasons. Some to own a fine piece of original artwork, some to exercise civic pride by owning a piece of the community. There are collectors who like to fill their walls with these special pieces, while others give the banners as Christmas gifts or to collect a particular artist's work.
Thank you to all who support this program!
